Activity Summary

Community Service Activities (PM) in 2016 This is a continuation of PM in 2015, namely making methods to map the risk of volcanic disasters dynamically. In making risk maps, the vulnerability aspects of the population need to be taken into account, especially in relation to the public readiness when the dangers of gunfire occur. Last year a method was obtained to map the risk based on the Overlay Index (IO) method. From the method, the biggest risk is in the area around the east of the foot of the mountain. This is due to the vulnerability parameters of the community at the east east mountain foot. Found citizens infrastructure such as hot springs and housing was established right in disaster-prone areas. After a survey, it turns out that people do not really understand the dangers that can be caused by the eruption of Guntur. Based on these results, PM 2016 was carried out to continue making a disaster risk map not only on the east side of Mount Guntur, but also around Mount Guntur. Vulnerability surveys are carried out by sampling on residents and agencies around the foot of the Guntur Mountain complex. Questionnaire and interviews are done to assess community vulnerability level. In addition, the expanded danger factors are not only centered on the eruption of Guntur, but for all eruptions that have occurred in the Mount Guntur complex. Rock sampling and making a Geological Map of the Geology is carried out using Alos (Advanced Land Observing Satellite) Palsar (Phased Array-Type L-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar) to increase the accuracy of the danger map obtained in last year's activities.

Testimonials

The community around the foot of the Guntur Mountain complex does not care so much aspects of safety by assuming that Mount Guntur is no longer active because they have never witnessed that Mount Guntur has erupted. Residents are more aware of the dangers of landslides that have occurred than the danger of volcanic eruptions. After a survey and discussion, residents can understand the condition of Mount Guntur at any time it can erupt because it is still categorized as an active volcano type A.
