city Sabang is one of the favorite destinations in Indonesia located on Weh Island. Located in the western end of Aceh Province and separated from the main land bring the influence of limitations on the needs of people's life. One of them is drinking water, where the problem on Weh Island is that the available ground water contains 'corals' according to local residents. In order to overcome this issue, an appropriate technology -based approach is needed. This community service activity aims to implement the technology Reverse Osmosis (RO) as a solution to the need for drinking water in Sabang City. The RO process in the drinking water treatment system is commonly applied in the industrial world, but on this occasion the machine is placed in public space to support the improvement of the quality of tourism, especially halal tourism. Installation of tools in the Great Mosque of Babussalam Sabang City is expected to be able to provide a unique experience for tourists in enjoying halal tourism, besides that it can be used as a program of alms to drink water that is beneficial for sustainable people.
The main goal is to increase the trial of halal tourism on Weh-Aceh Island, as part of the development of facilities and infrastructure in supporting the halal tourism industry. The approach taken is the application of the Green Mosque Concept through processed water filtration technology ready to drink using the Reverse Osmosis (RO) method. The energy used to run the RO machine applies the use of clean energy that comes from the sun's heat. Moreover, the existence of ready-to-drink water and energy sources on small islands is limited so that effective management needs.
Benefits/Impacts for Human Sciences Expertise Group, Faculty of Fine Arts and Desan, and ITB: The topic of service to the community is very in accordance with the field of team expertise and is a manifestation of one of the Humanitarian Expertise Groups in 2023, namely the impact of technological innovation on the community with Muslim-friendly tourism. Likewise for the Roadmap of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design and ITB, the target of this program is part of the realization of the ITB Statute, namely the implementation of the Humanities Field. Benefits/Impacts for Indonesia: Tourism Development: Increasing the appeal of halal tourism destinations in Indonesia, strengthening the image of the country as a friendly and innovative tourist destination. Claiming Water Problems: Providing a solution model for other regions in Indonesia that faces water supply problems, especially those related to the 'coral' content in ground water. Global Benefits/Impacts: Contribution to sustainable development: Creating examples of the application of technology in the context of sustainable development, can be recognized and adopted by the international community. Recognition of Technology Innovation: Placing Indonesia on a global map as a country that uses technological innovation to overcome social challenges, especially related to the environment and the welfare of the community.
