Activity Summary

The Cangkol Hijau community service activity: Circular Economy Village on the Coast of Cirebon City aims to develop circular economic activities in densely populated residential areas on the coast of Cirebon City as part of efforts to handle urban waste in West Java. This activity is a continuation of the 2023 Community Service Activities for Infrastructure Management Grants in Densely Populationd Urban Areas in West Java which focuses on handling clean water and waste water infrastructure and does not yet include aspects of integrated waste management. It is hoped that this activity can answer the issue of improving environmental quality in urban coastal areas in West Java by handling waste that is integrated with improving the local economy.
The main targets for achievement in this activity are as follows:

a. Socialization of waste management activities through the development of a circular economy to urban coastal communities.

b. The community is trained in waste management using a circular economy (5R) approach both in substance and skills.

c. Building connections between the circular economy management community and urban conventional and digital markets.

Apart from that, this activity has targets for ITB's internal development which include:

1. Preparation of a guidebook for implementing a circular economy at the community level.

2. Organizing publicity of community service activities in national media.

3. Development of teaching materials at KK SIWK, related to digital infrastructure for the development of a circular economy in the development planning system

This activity will be carried out with a participatory and collaborative approach involving The related multi-stakeholders at each stage consisting of the beneficiary community, regional heads (RT/RW and Subdistrict), Lemahwungkuk Village LPM, Cirebon City DPRKP and Cirebon City DKP, Cirebon City Healthy City Forum. This activity applies the method of integration of physical activities and governance which has been implemented in previous activities (Community Service Grants for Infrastructure Management in Densely Populationd Urban Areas in West Java in 2023) which is running very good at creating active participation of the stakeholders involved. In this activity, the driving community was introduced to the principles of village level basic infrastructure management such as clean water and waste water and basic skills (field practice) in terms of planning, monitoring, construction, management financing and evaluation.
