The collaborative initiative between PT Timah Tbk and the Geological Engineering Department of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) focuses on developing geotourism potential in the Bangka Belitung Islands. Through community service activities such as focus group discussions (FGDs), field research, and multidisciplinary analysis, this project emphasizes the region's geological heritage. Bangka Belitung's unique geological features, including tin deposits, granite landscapes, and iconic formations like Batu Satam and Batu Belimbing, form the foundation for geotourism development. The initiative aims to enhance public knowledge and attract tourists by linking geological phenomena with cultural and ecological narratives. A key aspect involves capacity building for local stakeholders, combining academic expertise with practical approaches to preserve and promote the region's geoheritage. The project underlines sustainable tourism by balancing economic growth with environmental conservation. Its outcomes are expected to serve as a model for integrating geoscientific insights into regional tourism strategies, fostering long-term socio-economic and environmental benefits for local communities.
