Researcher Name (Team Leader)

Activity Summary

Bamboo carvings have a lot of potential to be developed both in terms of motives, shapes and functions. The relationship that has been well built between ITB as a pioneer of activities with institutions / partners in the regions, namely Unisnu and Jepara craftsmen is very potential to be maintained. The Senenan area, Jepara remains a priority in this program because it has several carved experts who have tested their quality. This program tries to provide diversification of traditional bamboo carvings. The selected motive is the motive from Eastern Indonesia, namely the Asmat (Papua). This is done with an emphasis to maintain and preserve the ability possessed by Jepara carving craftsmen so as not to disappear while re-intensifying the bamboo industry in Indonesia. Up to this stage, almost all goals have been achieved. This activity has proven that there is still a young generation of carved craftsmen who want to try and develop their abilities through new media (bamboo). Keywords: bamboo carvings, traditional motifs, jepary carvings
