Astronomy is in a unique position to support Sustainable Development . Apart from understanding celestial bodies, astronomy can encourage technology and innovation. However, the basic education curriculum in Indonesia does not fully accommodate astronomy. Another thing that is an obstacle is the limited number of human resources in Indonesia who understand astronomy. The Ministry of Education and Culture, through the National Achievement Center, is holding a National Science Olympiad (OSN) which aims to equalize education and achievement, as well as attracting young Indonesian talents. This event has a strategic role in increasing the uneven exposure to astronomy in Indonesia. In synergy with this event, PPMI ITB was carried out which aims to improve human resources through training for trainers (TOT) and general evening activities (star party).
Improving astronomy education through Training Programs or Training for Trainers (ToT). Increasing astronomy education through public evening activities.
This activity is expected to increase astronomical insight for both ToT training participants, teachers, students, the astronomy community and the wider community.
