Activity Summary

Fatu Manufui Village, located in Boking Subdistrict, South Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, faces a serious challenge regarding access to clean water. This water crisis has adversely affected the quality of life for the local community, impacting their health, sanitation, and overall well-being. Most residents of Fatu Manufui Village must travel long distances to obtain clean water, which consumes significant time and energy. The situation is further exacerbated by the region's hilly terrain and the lack of reliable natural water sources. A program is needed that not only aims to meet the basic need for clean water but also empowers the community by involving them in every stage of the project's implementation. Clean water exploration will utilize geophysical methods, including geoelectric surveys. These methods will help identify potential well locations for clean water drilling. Drilling efforts cannot be conducted solely by the project team and will require collaboration with stakeholders in Fatu Manufui Village. This collaboration is expected to foster a sense of ownership and shared responsibility among community members to maintain and preserve the clean water sources. With this background, it is hoped that all parties involved will understand the urgency and importance of the water drilling program in Fatu Manufui Village as a concrete step to address the clean water crisis and improve the quality of life for the local population..

Target

Providing real experience to students involved in this program. By involving them in practical applications in the field, they can see firsthand how the knowledge they learn can be applied in real situations and provide concrete solutions to society. For research proponents and ITB institutions, it is hoped that this project will make a significant contribution to society in the future. This is in accordance with the tri dharma principle of higher education which includes education, research and community service. Thus, this research not only aims to produce scientific knowledge, but also to provide real benefits to society and encourage sustainable development.
