Very Susanto
Simbang Village is a village that has been expanded in Pamboang District, Majene Regency, West Sulawesi, the 33rd of 38 Provinces in Indonesia. Even though it has been expanded, this village is still quite large, located between hills, with road infrastructure access that is vulnerable to being cut off by earthquakes and landslides. Another fundamental problem is related to the availability of clean water. The Simbang area is an area in the hydrogeological system "area of rare groundwater and locally significant small productive aquifers", which is composed of tuffaceous sandstone, silt, marl, shale and limestone lithologies. Limestone has the potential to have an economical water source that can be exploited in its fracture system, but the presence of springs far above the hills and the groundwater level being quite deep means that settlements in this village tend to lack clean water, especially during the dry season. Another problem is that the limestone-groundwater interaction is very intensive so that the carbonate content dissolves in the water, causing the groundwater to become chalky and therefore unfit for consumption.
The aim of this activity is to map the distribution of water springs, compare the quality and quantity of water sources, build water catchment buildings and transmission systems so that the need for clean water and drinking water for the community in Simbang Village, Majene Regency, is met throughout the year.
p>The design of this clean water supply system is the application of appropriate technology (TTG) which is carried out communally. The emphasis on using TTG is in addition to the reliability of its performance, as well as its ease and cheapness in operation. Determination of clean water sources is determined after conducting surveys and discussions with residents. Monitoring and evaluation activities and focused discussions (FGD) regarding the maintenance of the clean water supply system will be carried out at the end of the activity to assess the readiness of village residents to maintain the clean water facilities that will be built, so that it is hoped that their use will be sustainable (sustainable) .
