Activity Summary

Majalaya is an area that is prone to flood disasters, including several sub-districts such as Majalaya District, Paseh District, and Ibun District which are affected by the overflow of the upstream Citarum River, as well as Solokanjeruk District due to the overflow of the upstream Cisunggalah River. In order to increase community preparedness and minimize the negative impacts of flooding, the Majalaya Flood Ngaguar Geo-tour activity is designed to provide practical understanding and knowledge to the general public and SMA/K/MA students in the Majalaya area regarding flood risk reduction.

This activity, known in Sundanese as Ulin Bari Diajar Ngaguar Banjir, combines elements of education and tourism to strengthen community capacity in disaster preparedness. With a collaborative, cross-organizational and multi-sector approach, this program includes learning sessions, educational visits to flood-prone locations and water catchment areas, as well as the introduction of mitigation tools such as weather monitors and early warning systems. Facilities such as learning spaces, transportation and safety equipment are also provided to support the smooth running of activities.

Through this activity, participants are expected to gain a better understanding of flood risks, steps -mitigation measures, and the importance of active participation in maintaining flood preparedness. In addition, the Geo-tour Ngaguar Banjir Majalaya aims to build community solidarity so that they are able to respond quickly and effectively to the threat of flooding, making this program a pilot model for disaster mitigation at the local level.
