Desai Sawih is a village with the main commodity in the form of high quality hazelnut. This encourages 80% of its population to make a living as a hazelnut farmer. To be able to meet the needs of life, farmers try to increase the selling price of hazelnut by separating hazelnut seeds from their hard shells. During this time, the shell has been solved using traditional hands and tools. This requires farmers to spend a lot of time and energy. To help farmers save time and energy, ITB and the Ministry of PDTT organize community service by providing electricity shell breaking machines. In the implementation of this program, the team originating from FTMD ITB helped design and make four hazelnut breaker machines that have a rotating speed setting system. After that, the team provided education to farmers about how to operate the machine. With this activity, it is hoped that hazelnut farmers in Silaihpui Village will get ease in carrying out their profession, and get better welfare.
