Activity Summary

Indonesia's coastal and marine areas have fisheries resources that have great potential to be developed. Community Service will be carried out in Karangsari Village, Kendal District, Kendal Regency. The majority of livelihoods in this village are farmers and fish farmers, because there is a river flowing with salt/brackish water. The owner of the pond is Mr. Mursidi, he has been cultivating shrimp since 2014. The reason Mr. Mursidi cultivates shrimp is because it has greater value than ponds of milkfish or other fish. Shrimp is an export commodity that has high economic value. One type of shrimp whose demand is quite high both at home and abroad is vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). One of the causes of crop failure can be caused by an environment that does not meet the physical, chemical and biological requirements of the commodities being cultivated. Additionally, shrimp do not have antibodies and are therefore very sensitive to unfavorable environmental conditions. Of the many water quality parameters, there are four physical water parameters that are quite crucial for shrimp. Temperature, DO, salinity and pH can describe whether pond conditions are good or conditions that can disrupt cultivation. The process of measuring Mr Mursidi's pool parameters takes a lot of time so it is not effective and efficient so that handling if there is a problem is often too late. Therefore, automation technology is needed that is a solution and effective to help shrimp farming businesses monitor the quality of pond water. With the help of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) with the placement of various sensors and IoT (Internet of Things) technology, monitoring can be carried out easily, actually, quickly, automatically, at low cost, and can also be carried out remotely (remote monitoring). In this way, cultivators can know the condition of the water anytime and anywhere. This technology is in the form of a water meter device that can monitor water quality automatically for 24 hours, equipped with sensors such as salinity, pH, temperature, air humidity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen levels and levels of dissolved solid particles that can be used.
