Conversion of land use to urban land reduces the ability of the land surface, which was initially able to absorb large amounts of rainwater, resulting in increased surface water runoff and can increase the potential for flood disasters. Flood disasters can have negative impacts on social, economic and community infrastructure conditions. Therefore, mitigation efforts for water runoff are urgently needed to provide more comfortable, safe and sustainable environmental conditions. Apart from the integrated drainage system that is needed in cities and requires complex and comprehensive studies, one effective solution that can directly reduce water runoff is through the construction of absorption wells. This infiltration well functions as a technology to return rainwater to groundwater by increasing tamping capacity and providing an opportunity for water to absorb into the layers below. However, awareness of the importance of the presence of this supporting infrastructure in society has not been felt until now. Therefore, further efforts are needed to increase awareness within the community regarding the importance of the presence of infiltration wells. An effective form of activity that can be carried out is in the form of an educational campaign regarding the position of infiltration wells in dealing with the potential for high water runoff. Through this campaign, it is hoped that the community will pay more attention and be encouraged to actively participate in building their own infiltration wells in the environment where they live, thereby creating an environment that is safer from flooding and pays attention to the sustainability of the environmental hydrological cycle.
Increasing public awareness of the role of infiltration wells in overcoming the potential for high water runoff and reducing the risk of water disasters such as floods
Increase the picture for participants of how rainwater absorption wells can play a role in reducing runoff.
