"Sei Penggar District was formed in 2010 and is the leading sub -district directly adjacent to Malaysia. With a population of around 8,950 people scattered in several villages including Srinanti Village and Tabur Lestari Village which are villages supporting oil palm and mining plantations in the nearest area. Initially, the need for drinking water in both villages was not a big problem, but in line with the development of the village, and the increasing number of people in these two villages, the problem of water became a problem that requires special attention. In 2009 a clean water supply installation was built in the form of SPAM (Drinking Water Management System) in Srinanti Village which had fallen up and down and stopped operating several times. However, in 2018, this SPAM was rebuilt and rearranged its management so that the drinking water management system received an award as a fairly good SPAM management (2021). The SPAM construction was carried out in collaboration between DTR (Ambassador of Engineering Mining) which is a subsidiary of Medco, supported by experts in the irrigation system from ITB. Until now SPAM has been able to irrigate houses in SP 2 (Srinanti Village) at a very competitive price, for information, the price of water sold before SPAM operates reaching Rp. 300,000/tank, with this SPAM, the community only has to pay Rp. 10,000/cubic, and start expanding the reach to Tabur Lestari Village which is approximately 5 km from the water source. The better the SPAM management system does not escape the natural problems, including the amount of water discharge that is decreasing every year, due to the damaged environment, the use of wasteful water because it feels cheap water prices compared to before, as well as awareness of water users who are still still weak in the awareness of paying contributions to this SPAM. Some efforts have been made including planting bamboo around the reservoir that functions to maintain water so that the discharge has been maintained, has been carried out since 2018. With the problems present, one of the solutions that will be carried out is to create a awareness campaign system for the importance of protecting the surrounding environment in the hope that it can have an impact on more stable water discharge in the reservoir, as well as awareness of the importance of paying contributions for the sake of this SPAM ongoing on an ongoing basis."
