Activity Summary

Some time ago, on Sunday 31 December 2023 evening, an earthquake occurred, based on information from BMKG, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8 at a depth of 5 km with the epicenter at coordinates 107.94 East Longitude and 6.85 South Latitude, is about 1.5 km east of Sumedang City, West Java Province. The shock was felt in Bandung, Subang, Garut, Cirebon and several other areas in West Java. This earthquake caused quite severe damage to residents in the epicenter area and other affected areas. Many people's houses were destroyed and could not be used again. The earthquake disaster was not over, on Monday 8 January 2024 at around 17.00 a landslide occurred in Subang Regency, based on BNPB data resulting in 2 people being declared dead, 11 people injured, 80 people forced to evacuate and around 40 houses affected by the disaster due to ground movement. In Cikawung village, Tanjungsiang District, Subang District, according to data submitted by Mr. Agus Sapulah S.E (Tanjungsiang sub-district head) and Mr. Didi Gumilar S.H (Cikawung sub-district head) there were at least 38 houses damaged and 7 of them were in the heavy damage category as a result of the earthquake which was centered at Sumedang.

As part of the community, ITB carried out disaster response actions in Sumedang and Subang to help communities affected by disasters. This action was carried out in parallel and integrated with various actions carried out by other ITB academic communities. There are at least 9 teams at ITB that assist and carry out activities in the Sumedang - Subang disaster area, including disaster response electricity and drinking water supply teams, teams that handle waste in disaster conditions, several teams that operate in the post-disaster phase related to health services and trauma healing, to the team that plans and focuses on economic recovery in disaster areas.

The ITB School of Pharmacy (SF-ITB) collaborates with the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM - ITB), PT LAPI, UPT Health Services ITB (UPT Yankes ITB), lecturers from the KK Aesthetics and Arts Sciences - Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD – ITB), Psychologist Team from the ITB Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa ITB), West Java Province BPBD, PD IAI Disaster Response Pharmacist Subang District and the ITB Pharmacy Alumni Association (IA FA ITB), deployed the SF Disaster Response Team. Subang (https://maps.app.goo.gl/iSAP3vBciez6UF8j8) on Saturday, January 27 2024, SF Team This company carries out a complete package of community service activities in the form of: (1) education about disasters presenting resource persons from the West Java Province BPBD (Kang Rano), (2) health services for communities around the disaster area carried out in collaboration with health workers from UPT Yankes ITB, (3) trauma treatment carried out in collaboration with psychologists from Ditmawa ITB, (4) psychosocial support for children -children of earthquake victims carried out by KK Sports lecturers and tutors as well as SF ITB students who previously received art therapy training from FSRD lecturers who also work as art therapists, Ardhana Riswarie, S.Sn., M.A., as well as (5) logistical assistance in the form of basic food packages to help the community ease the burden of life.

The types of activities planned at ITB Subang Disaster Response are adjusted to the conditions and needs of the community which were identified during the previous preliminary survey, through communication with the local BPBD and volunteers (Mr. Aby Tommy), PC IAI disaster response pharmacist Subang (apt Virda Emerita), local government officials (sub-district head, village head and Kadus) as well as the general public who were met at the location.



Target

Increasing awareness and knowledge of the people of Cikawung Village, Tanjungsiang District, Subang, regarding natural disaster preparedness and mitigation through providing education to village cadres. Providing health services to the general public affected by disasters. Consultation and providing education about stress management and trauma healing for communities affected by disasters. Providing psychosocial support services for children in disaster areas
