Stunting is a problem of body growth that is hampered due to malnutrition. This condition can be caused by unfulfilled nutritional needs, both before and after the baby is born for quite a long time, which has an impact on growth disorders in children so that children have a shorter height compared to their age standard. Not only on physical development, stunting can also have an impact on cognitive development that is less than optimal and result in a slower ability to understand in children of the same age.
In the Sumedang Regency area, it is necessary to convey knowledge about reproductive health and nutrition among the community, especially mothers and adolescent girls, which is a step that needs to be taken immediately. Another aspect is how collaborative and integrated efforts are carried out, one of which is through health access such as community health centers. Barriers to information and health services are also a problem that requires serious attention. Analysis of environmental conditions around the Community Health Center is important, including social, economic and cultural factors that can influence understanding and behavior related to reproductive health and child nutrition. This is a step in Indonesia's investment for future generations, which is not only in the physical growth and cognitive development of children, but also in the overall health of future generations, as well as its implications for productivity and quality of life in society.
In line with the 2020-2024 National Priority Policy (PRN), solving health and nutrition challenges to reduce stunting rates must be carried out through a multisector approach. Thus, this Community Service program was initiated as a step to help handle and prevent stunting cases, especially in Tegal Regency. Through empowerment activities in the health and education sectors, it is hoped that this program can make an effective contribution to reducing stunting rates in Indonesia in a collaborative, integrated and sustainable manner.
