Activity Summary

In the design, analysis and design of marine infrastructure, it always involves numerical modeling activities. The element method to the numerical method that is most commonly used in commercial software in the marine industry, in order to solve the problem of synergy as in structural and fluid mechanics. This method is developed based on the discrete of small parts in a physical object, called elements up to, to then be processed to represent the physical object in numeric form. With so many applications of elements that are often used in marine fields, such as Abaqus, Sacs, Staad Pro, Ansys, Nastran, Autopype, Caesar II, SAP 2000, Etabs; Students and engineers who pursue work in this field need to have an understanding of important concepts of the element method so that they can find out how the process that runs behind the software or application. This is one of the main roles of engineers, which played a role in verifying and validating the output of the application, not only as a software operator alone. This book presents the basic concepts of the element method to and examples of its application in the field of engineering in a special coastal structure, and marine structure in general, which is expected this book is not only beneficial for students and engineers in the field of marine engineering, but also engineering and engineers students in general.
