Activity Summary

Based on the Desanesha ITB 2024 program and initial information from the village head (Mrs. Insemina Wawiyai) of the village, that Friwen Village is one of the small islands inhabited by 49 families in Raja Ampat Regency which has natural beauty of beaches and seabed views with a safe situation. Residents' activities in carrying out their daily lives depend a lot on the number and frequency of tourists who stop by for snorkeling, diving and overnight stays in homestays. However, it has been felt that the capacity of tourism services has not been optimal compared to other tourist villages or tourist attractions that are widely known to the public such as Piaynemo, Arborek, etc. The ITB PM3T Team uses programs, information and village issues as the background basis for efforts to "optimize the maritime tourism capacity of Friwen Village based on geospatial information with a maritime/nautical theme approach.

The work methodology of the Friwen Village 3T Team uses 4 (four) stages, namely: (1) Field survey and geotaging with GPS, photographing aerial views of the coast with drones, photographing coral reef objects on the seabed. spots tourist locations with the community to map the tourism potential around the island, (2) Conduct interviews with residents, tourists regarding obstacles/limitations, as well as comparative visits to other tourist villages that are more advanced. (3) Processing survey data to formulate solutions for efforts and ways to increase tourism capacity in the form of creating information media (off line & on line), building networks, and proposing suggestions to parties/authorities related to infrastructure , local regulation. (4) Handover and socialization of the use of information products for the Friwen Village Head and staff. Field survey activities were carried out from the end of August to September 2024, followed by data processing until mid-October to create products. The socialization of the use of information products will be carried out in the fourth week of October 2024.

The results of the activities of the Friwen Village PM3T Team are in the form of; (1) The first product is geospatial information media to complement and disseminate the existence of Friwen Village Marine Tourism through banners, tourist maps, stickers, brochures which are distributed to prospective tourists visiting Raja Ampat at Sorong port and UPT Waisai Tourism Office. Information products are also created online via Instagram and Facebook which are jointly managed by the ITB Team and the Village Secretary under the name @itbxfriwen to reach prospective tourists both nationally and internationally. (2) The second product is building a network and communication between the PM3T Team and the Raja Ampat Tourism Office, connecting tourism information in Friwen Village to tour travel services (temporarily with Interlink and Universal in the city of Bandung), (3) The third product is suggestions and proposals to residents through the Head Friwen Village in developing tourism potential such as; there are culinary delights, public spaces, residents taking part in marine tourism training courses, creating educational tour packages, conservation tourism, local cultural attractions with a comparative approach with the Arborek Tourism Village, all of which is in an effort to increase opportunities for the number of tourists and increase the income (welfare) of residents in a sustainable manner.
