"Traditional houses are cultural artifacts that become assets of the nation's wealth that should be maintained and preserved, the existence of traditional homes is one of the cultural -based educational potentials and has the potential to be developed creatively. One of them is used to improve the tourism economy in the form of home stay facilities. The experience of staying temporarily in traditional homes and living with the community is an experience that can increase love and concern for cultural heritage. The location of the program is focused on one of the traditional Toba Batak house residential areas in Desan Jangga Dolok, Lumban Julu District, Toba Samosir Regency. Some traditional houses are currently being projected as a shelter or home stay for tourists who want to experience the experience of hospitality by the people there. Traditional houses will be measured modeling and will be identified by the potential for space for optimizing homestay facilities and activities. This community service will be carried out for 10 months in 2021 by involving 2 researchers and 1 student who is expected to go directly to the field, to apply the knowledge they have, can solve problems that occur in the field directly. The activity that will be carried out is a form of implementation of science about hospitality facilities and synergizes with the culture and wisdom of local traditional communities to produce harmonization between its activities and interior space. The method approach used is begins with data collection, field observations, data analysis, and finally designing simulation / model. The output of this program is a design recommendation for community empowerment in the form of home stay facility planning recommendations, especially in the traditional Batak Toba home. This program can be used as an initial study or pilot for further research. This program can also be recommended to be developed and continued in the following year in the form of design development that focuses on socioeconomic aspects in the field of hospitality, as well as other external factors related to human comfort in the interior space."
