Palm oil is an important contributor to the Indonesian economy and an important employer for several regions. Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is one of the results of the palm oil industry and has the potential to be used as an ethanol production substrate through anaerobic processes. Anaerobic processing produces side products such as total volatile acid (TVA), ethanol, and variois gas to the stage of asidogenesis. Microorganisms need micronutrients as an environment, artificial POME is used as a liquid waste feed that will be processed to be filtered whether there is a correlation effect between the addition of ZN, MN, and Co. with ethanol formation using 2N factorial statistics. The experiment took place using Circulated Bed Reactor (CBR) for 48 hours with a sampling every 12 hours and variations of the duplicate reactor. Statistically it was proven that the combination of ZN, MN, and Comn metals affected the formation of TVA while the combination of MN and ZNMN metals had an effect on the formation of ethanol with the largest detected ethanol concentration of 9353.84 mg / L. Organic compounds tend to switch to the formation of volatile acid rather than ethanol formation , this happens if the combination of Metal Zn and Metal Comn are added. Keywords: anaerobic process, ethanol, metal addition, palm oil mill waste, total-volatile acid
