The Indonesian government has set a national oil and gas production target in 2030 of 1 million BOPD and 12 million SCFD. One of the efforts made is to optimize in the form of increasing WO/WS activities and/or reactivating idle (abandoned) wells in existing fields at the most affordable costs. Based on SKK Migas data (2022), it shows that national oil and gas production continues to decline. This is confirmed by SKK Migas data in mid-2022, there were 16,370 idle (abandoned) wells throughout Indonesia. Among the efforts made to realize the 2030 national production target, by mid-2022, 725 WO/WS jobs and/or reactivation proposals have been proposed with a production target of reaching 30,000 BOEPD. The proposed work will result in significant production increases when carried out with the selection of technically sound well candidates. Reactivating idle (abandoned) wells that still have potential and optimizing wells that are not yet optimal is one of the cheap and fast options for increasing current oil and gas production
Older fields are oil and natural gas production fields that have experiencing a decline in production or having reached the end of its productive period, either due to mechanical problems or operational problems, so a method for selecting appropriate well candidates as production optimization candidates is needed to maintain and/or increase production (AbdelBasset et al., 2018). The biggest challenge in selecting well candidates as production optimization candidates is limited data, especially static models and dynamic models (Chetri et al., 2008). The data that is easiest to find, but has a very important role in making production optimization decisions is production data (Mohaghegh et al., 2005).
Develop and propose updated methods for selecting technically appropriate well candidates, so as to significantly increase oil and gas production in old fields. Developing software that can be used to speed up and facilitate the selection of production optimization well candidates.
Can make it easier to evaluate old wells
