Activity Summary

The increasing number of foreign tourist visits to Komodo National Park means that tour guides must have good communication skills in foreign languages, especially English. Therefore, the Media Literacy and Visual Culture Skills Group held English communication skills training for tour guides in Pasir Panjang Village, Komodo Islands. The methods used in this training include lectures, discussions and direct practice in speaking English which are adapted to the needs of tour guides. The material presented includes how to communicate effectively with foreign tourists using English and skills in promoting tourist destinations on social media. The evaluation results of this training show that most participants (96.2%) of the tour guides in Pasir Panjang Village thought the material presented could improve their knowledge and communication skills in English and all participants (100%) found the material presented interesting.< /p>



Target

1. improve the ability to communicate in English for residents on the Komodo Islands who are interested in becoming foreign tour guides.



Testimonials

This program provides experience for FSRD ITB Visual Culture Literacy KK members in dealing with cultural development problems in general and tourism in particular. Through this community service program, ITB can play a role in improving Human Resources in the 3T area (Passir Panjang Village, Komodo Islands, Manggarai Regency, Labuan Bajo District, NTT) so that it can contribute to improving the economy of the people in the area.
