With changes to the National Education curriculum, especially at the Senior High School level, it places a heavy burden on teachers. On the one hand, the demand for achieving the syllabus takes up the teacher's time to prepare good teaching materials. On the other hand, science and technology are very fast making teachers unable to keep up with various cutting-edge applications of the concepts taught in class. On the other hand, most students have no insight into college life in general and especially at ITB with its new curriculum. Furthermore, the scientific fields of Magnetics and Photonics are unknown to these students, so they do not have insight into advanced technology which can be the goal of their Higher Education.
To overcome the problems above, the KK in Magnetic Physics and Photonics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bandung Institute of Technology plans and implements one of the Dharmas of Higher Education, namely Community Service (PKM), with the aim of (1) contributing to the intelligence of the nation and (2) solving practical problems in society which is related to the scientific fields of Magnetic and Photonic Physics.
The PKM activities proposed for 2024 are Refresher and Deeper Training in Basic Physics Material and Introduction to the Science of Magnetic and Photonic Physics for High School Teachers and Students in Semarang and Surrounding Areas, which will be held in collaboration with MGMP Physics Semarang City.
Take part in educating the nation through refresher and deeper training in the field of Physics, Magnetics and Photonics for high school teachers in Semarang and surrounding areas. Providing broad insight through the introduction of physics and technological applications, especially in the fields of Magnetics and Photonics, to high school students in Semarang and surrounding areas
This PKM provides an opportunity for KK to introduce fields of knowledge that are relatively new to teachers and students. For FMIPA, this PKM opens a network of services that can be provided by the expertise at FMIPA. For the Institute, this PKM activity is a step in introducing ITB campus life with its characteristics.
