Activity Summary

Surian Trees (Toona Isnensis) are widely planted and demanded by the people in Cibugel Sumedang Regency, West Java Province. Surian wood is used as an alternative to teak wood substitutes, because it has a wooden surface similar to teak wood. Cibugel farmers plant surean trees on their people's forest land. Unfortunately they do not apply silvicultural techniques well to build plantations. Training methods use classical methods and practice methods. In general, training material consists of silvicultural techniques and wood processing techniques. Silviculture engineering material consists of (1) the assessment of the quality of the parent tree, (2) surian, and (3) planting and maintenance of surian. While the wood processing technique consists of (1) surveillance of surian wood, (2) gluing techniques and manufacturing of surian laminated wood, and (3) synthe wood drying techniques. Training activities went smoothly, followed by 20 plasma farmers. Learning Training Materials is held in the Meeting Room of the Cibugel District Office
