Activity Summary

Recently, the sport of pencak silat has developed into a competitive sport, because it is one of the sports that is competed in at the SEA Games, European and World Championships. The Indonesian pencak silat team succeeded in achieving proud achievements at the 2018 Asian Games by winning 14 gold medals and 1 bronze medal from the 16 classes competed. This typical Indonesian martial arts sport requires all component abilities in terms of physical condition, namely, speed, agility, flexibility, strength, power, endurance, reaction and balance. Therefore, pencak silat is a sport that also needs coaching and review in the physical aspect with appropriate test and measurement methods. The presence of the application of sports science within the pencak silat trainer environment is expected to help trainers to carry out appropriate tests and measurements, both with laboratory tests and field tests to obtain the profile of each athlete being coached and be able to develop appropriate training programs and create athletes who develop in accordance with their expectations.



Target

provide improvements in the quality of pencak silat trainers to be able to optimize training programs with appropriate test and measurement methods. Increase the knowledge of pencak silat trainers regarding tests and measurements to obtain profiles of the athletes they coach. Instilling the skills of pencak silat trainers in carrying out appropriate tests and measurements which will later be integrated into an integrated training program
