I Dewa Gede Arsa Putrawan
This community service activity aims to increase the income of Inerie Village farmers through the ability to process coconuts into quality derivative products. The use that the people in the village have made is cooking oil. However, production is carried out using traditional methods, generally producing coconut oil of poor quality and a short shelf life, namely only around 3 – 4 days before it spoils. Based on statistical data from East Nusa Tenggara Province in 2021, annual coconut production is equivalent to 1,340 tons (Ngada Regency), or around 69,174 tons (NTT Province). Processing coconuts has a high economic impact. In the first year, the derivative product that was the focus of the target was pure coconut oil (VCO). Service activities carried out over the past two years include developing prototype processes and equipment for processing coconuts into VCO, training farmers in Inerie Village, and monitoring and evaluating the impact of activities on farmers' income, as well as improving product quality to meet quality standards and commercialization guidance. Through the training provided, farmers have been able to process coconuts into VCO. The resulting product has been marketed at the local level, at a price of Rp. 25,000 per 250 ml. With this selling price, processing coconuts into VCO produces a profit margin of 340,000 rupiah per one head (40) of coconuts. In contrast, traditional coconut oil with a yield of 6 liters per head of coconut and a current selling price of 16,000 rupiah per liter only produces a profit margin of 36,000 rupiah. < font face="Roboto">Farmers have obtained a production permit in the form of a Certificate of Fulfillment of Home Industry Processed Food Production Commitment (SPP-IRT), with a permit number 051023006596500000001. With standard quality achievements, product marketing is not limited to the local market, but also has... up to Labuan Banjo and the digital market through 'PaDi UMKM' or the Indonesian MSME digital market (https://padiumkm.id/product/virgin-coconut-oil-inerie-100ml/66dfd3a7a4d135743a06112f). VCO production increases farmers' income significantly compared to traditional coconut oil. To maintain the sustainability of the program, the team bridges farmers to work together with UKM/Bumdes in marketing the product. Communication with representatives Farmer groups are also protected, especially regarding maintenance, quality testing, packaging and distribution permits so that production efforts can be sustainable.
Increasing community income, especially coconut farmers in Inerie Village, Inerie District, Ngada Regency
For the farmers of Ineria Village, this activity has opened their horizons and increased their ability to process coconuts as the main local commodity. The real impact felt is an increase in profits compared to using it as traditional cooking oil. Farmers' products have been sold not only through local kiosks/shops but have been sent to Labuan Bajo and sold through the digital market at 'PaDi UMKM' or the Indonesian MSME digital market (https://padiumkm.id/product/virgin-coconut-oil-inerie -100ml/66dfd3a7a4d135743a06112f). For KK/FS, this Community Service program is an opportunity to concretely prove ITB's role in guiding changes that can improve the welfare of the Indonesian people. Publicity through media and activity videos uploaded on YouTube can certainly increase awareness about community service activities among the wider community and can be a source of inspiration that will motivate people to get involved in similar activities or look for ways to improve their skills. This will certainly accelerate the achievement of a prosperous society in the country.
