Activity Summary

Most people in NTT work as farmers and depend on pig farming as a side activity. The quality of pigs produced from this simple farm is very dependent on the quality of the feed provided. Currently, most farmers depend on animal feed imported from areas outside NTT, thereby increasing the costs incurred by farmers. Therefore, this community service activity focuses on developing methods for producing animal feed by utilizing organic materials/waste available in the NTT environment. The use of organic materials/waste as animal feed provides benefits for the people of NTT, where this strategy can reduce the price of animal feed and reduce the amount of waste produced. Organic waste is collected from the surrounding environment, then ground and formed into pellets using feed production equipment provided by the team. The formulation and optimization of waste composition for feed production was carried out together with the team from STIPER Flores Bajawa and involved a number of Lamba Leda Vocational School students. The animal feed produced is also analyzed to determine the nutritional value of the feed. This activity is also equipped with counseling regarding feed and feeding management to the Sehati farmer group.
