Activity Summary

This Bosscha Observatory community in the form of virtual observation activities of the night sky using a telescope in the Bosscha Observatory and in Kupang which is controlled remotely from the Bosscha Observatory. Tonight's Virtual Sky Observation Activities are intended for the general public and are organized online on the YouTube platform. This activity began in 2020 when Bosscha's observatory was forced to be closed for public visits due to the spread of Covid disease. Instead the public education services are implemented online, and observations of the night sky virtual are one of the forms. This program was successful and was widely imitated by other agencies.

In 2023 this was carried out 3 times the virtual observation of the night sky. In the additional output section report there is an error: Target 2 and achievement 3. Unfortunately it cannot be corrected. But in the evidence and proof link it is shown that it was carried out 3 times the virtual observation of the night sky. As proof, online audience continues to grow.

This means that the method of science education for the public can be implemented well, efficiently, and useful.

For Bosscha Observatory staff, students, and young graduates, this program is a way of learning to interact with the community as an effort to communicate science, in this case, especially astronomy. Preparation of material, technical observation and technical studio and broadcast, making this important learning experience for the ITB Astronomy Community Service Team in Bosscha Observatory, KK, and Study Program,

This program will continue and be developed.

Target

Minimize the gap between the progress of science and community understanding of science; Optimizing operations (carrying capacity of instruments and human resources) in coordinating local and long -distance observations for synchronized purposes; Increase the knowledge and skills of students and young astronomical graduates in communicating science in the community

Testimonials

This program expands the insight of the general public and educators about astronomy, the world of astronomy work. For Astronomy KK/Study Program, this program encourages specialization to study astronomy more seriously.
