Activity Summary

Tunas Harapan Orphanage, located in RT. 01 RW. 011 Cicadas Village, Cibeunying Kidul Subdistrict, Bandung cares around 30 foster children. The need for clean water from the orphanage is to use well water as a source of drinking water. The quality of well water at the location of the orphanage and around the location environment is less so well reviewed from odor and the taste of well water. Based on the results of the 2014 activities, the quality of well water around the orphanage location contains many metal ions (FE and MN) and the contamination of domestic waste. The decline in the quality of the environment, the possibility of decreasing the quality and pollution of well water is very large. It can endanger the health of foster children and the community around it. The purpose of this activity is; 1) Empowering orphanic foster children and develop their abilities and expertise in a useful and useful work and can make foster children can practice independent life, 2) The training that will be given is the manufacture of raw water processing tools into feasible water for consumption and used for other purposes, 3) the manufacture of water processing installations directly drinking (potable drinking water) training activities followed by 20 homes for nursing children with average grade 2 and 3 high school students. Activities are carried out first with counseling about the importance of clean water and drinking water for health, characteristics of well water, water default diseases, and how to process water with simple technology such as sand filters, activated carbon. The second activity is a demonstration of training for making sand filters carried out by home children. From this training activity, it is expected to be able to provide a provision of knowledge about clean water treatment techniques and provide knowledge about the importance of sanitation for health.
