Activity Summary

Hanjeli is a plant of cereals that has the potential as a local food and functional food. Hanjeli has been known and cultivated since thousands of years ago in East Asia and Southeast Asia as food and as raw material for drugs in Chinese medicine. Utilization of Hanjeli in Indonesia is currently diminishing because it competes with other foodstuffs such as rice and flour. Waluran Mandiri Village Community Service, Waluran District, Sukabumi Regency, under the initiative and guidance of the Hanjeli Indonesia House Foundation which is a local non -profit institution, has developed more innovative use. Besides being made into Hanjeli rice and porridge has also been processed into rengginang, wajit, dodol and peuyeum and various handicrafts. At present Waluran Mandiri Village has developed into a tourist village in the Ciletuh Geopark area. This effort has helped the community's economy and reduce the interest of the community to work abroad. The problem faced is the processing technique including the drying process is still simple so that the processed quality is still not optimal and constrained by the season. In addition, waste from the cultivation and processing process has not been used productively. Increasing community understanding and skills in productive cultivation techniques, Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) in processing and processing techniques for Hanjeli plant waste. The LPPM ITB Community Service Implementation Team from the ITB Biological Sciences and Technology School held community service activities with Hanjeli Processing Technology Dissemination Topics and Utilization of Hanjeli Processing Waste to help the community improve the productivity and quality of processed Hanjeli commodities. Community service activities are carried out through the method of individual and group approaches, while the communication methods are built through direct communication methods and indirect communication methods. The implementation of activities includes: (1) preparation, (2) synchronization and coordination of activities with stakeholders, (3) implementation of activities, (4) monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of activities. The achievement target of this activity is 1) Increasing community understanding of the principle of good manufacturing process in processing hanjeli into food products, 2) Improved skills of business group members in the use of the remaining Hanjeli bij processing into fish feed and treatment of Hanjeli plant waste into organic fertilizer, 3) Increasing knowledge of Hanjeli seed -based processed business management, 4) Sustainability of independent entrepreneurial interest in people who will reduce interest to work as migrant workers abroad. Activities that have been carried out include 1) Socialization and coordination of community service programs to target groups in Waluran Mandiri Village, Waluran District, Sukabumi Regency - March 19, 2022, 2) Training: Making fish feed from Hanjeli bran, making organic fertilizer from Hanjeli and Management Waste Processed business based on Hanjeli seeds-23-24 July 2022, 3) Construction of Drying Houses-21-23 August 2022, 4) Training of Good Manufacturing Process in Hanjeli Seed Based Food Processing and Evaluation of Community Service Activities-19-20 November 2022. Results from These community service activities: 1) Can be disseminated with organic fertilizer manufacturing techniques from Hanjeli plant waste and fish feed making techniques from Hanjeli bran, 2) Increased knowledge of good manufacturing process in processed food -based food and processed food management, 3) Can be built home Hanjeli processed food dryer.
