Activity Summary

"Pharmacists are health workers who play an important role in carrying out pharmaceutical care, namely the form of service and the responsibilities of pharmacists directly on pharmaceutical work aimed at improving and improving the quality of life of patients (ASHP, 1993). Pharmacists are now not only doing the work in the compounding and distribution of drugs, but focus on treatment for definite results for the healing of patients, such as: treatment of diseases, eliminating or reducing symptoms, as well as termination and prevention of disease. In carrying out work of evaluation, strong collaboration between pharmacists, doctors, nurses and other health workers is needed through the optimization of drug therapy and joint decisions that refer to the disciplines of each health worker to provide comprehensive and maximum patient services. Interprofessional collaboration is a very important thing in an effort to improve the quality of health services. To realize interprofessional collaboration, good communication is needed among health workers. This communication ability must be honed since prospective health workers are still undergoing undergraduate stages and in professional programs. Communication implemented among health workers is known as therapeutic communication. Therapeutic communication is a conscious planned communication, its goals and activities are focused on the recovery of the client (Ina, 2010). Therapeutic communication is very important and useful for patients, because good communication can provide an understanding of patient behavior and help patients in overcoming the problems encountered. Therapeutic communication can help pharmacists actualize pharmaceutical care to patients, patients' families and doctors, nurses and other health workers."
