Activity Summary

The year 2020 is an important milestone in ITB's journey which has provided educational services to the Indonesian nation for 100 years. Therefore, the direction of developing the LPPM-ITB Community Service program 2000-2025 is an important part of ITB's contribution towards becoming more independent and respected by other nations in the next 100 years. By using the keywords Locally Relevant and Globally Respected, ITB must be respected globally for its various strengths and efforts in dealing with local problems that occur in society. Currently, the pandemic as a real disruption is also affecting ITB's Community Service practices which are required to comply with the framework for adapting to new habits. The impact of the pandemic on the weakening of national economic conditions has also influenced ITB's Community Service landscape in implementing science and technology in society, which must have a direct impact in realizing the most basic needs, namely a sense of security in society. On the one hand, the application of science and technology in society must also reactivate the social and economic ecosystem in society which strengthens endogenous development by utilizing local resources and potential in affected areas, including areas outside Java and borders or underdeveloped, frontier and outermost areas (3T). Therefore, every ITB community service activity needs to be coordinated, structured and sustainable with the involvement of local government and industry, so that the resulting output and impact can be felt more by the wider community. In Presidential Regulation no. 97 of 2017 concerning National Policy and Strategy (Jakstranas) for the Management of Household Waste and Similar Types of Household Waste which states that in 2025, the waste reduction target is 30% while the waste handling target is 70% of the total waste produced in the same year . Fulfilling sustainable development targets (sustainable development goals) as well as the existence of Jakstranas adds to the need to handle waste in Indonesia. This target refers to the world target, namely the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) where waste handling is included in sanitation needs. In line with the increase in population, the amount of waste produced also increases. Likewise, as the IKN development process continues and there is an increase in the number of workers and residents, the amount of waste from Sepaku District will continue to increase. Waste generated from the IKN area will be accommodated through one of the operational TPAs in North Penajam Paser Regency, namely Buluminung TPA which is located in Buluminung Village, Penajam District, North Penajam Paser Regency which has an area of 18.5 hectares and is targeted to serve solid waste. originating from the IKN area, one of which is from Sepaku District until 2024. Thus, waste from the source must go through the sorting stage and waste sorting efforts to minimize the burden on the Buluminung landfill capacity. This then became the basis for the community in Sepaku District, one of which is the residents of Bukit Raya Village, to manage and process their waste from the source. Therefore, based on its expertise based on science and technology, LPPM ITB through this top-down scheme community service activity can propose a massive organic waste sorting program towards a circular economy where waste will be sorted based on its type ( organic/inorganic) which is then processed through composting or other options for organic waste and recycled through waste banks or local off-takers for economically valuable inorganic waste. Focus of activities on programs and technology for sorting and processing organic waste. To reduce waste entering the Buluminung landfill, it is necessary to empower the community to increase waste reduction capacity at source and regional levels through a massive waste sorting program, such as conducting outreach and education and providing teaching aids for facilities and related waste management. In this proposal, the PM submitted it in Bukit Raya Village (it does not rule out the possibility of a wider scope area within the Central Government Core Area (KIPP), the planned service location is in Sepaku District which is located in the Archipelago Capital (IKN) so that this PM is in the cluster : Ring Zone 5: Border Zone or Disadvantaged, Frontier and Outermost Areas (3T), with activity targets in the form of initiating community service activities in Bukit Raya Village, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency as well as community empowerment in waste management at source level by Massive organic waste sorting program towards a circular economy. This PM activity will partner with government institutions, community self-help groups, and the general public. construction of the Archipelago Capital City (IKN) by the end of 2045.

Carrying out socialization, education and community empowerment at the source or regional level, for example providing assistance and training in a massive organic waste sorting program towards a circular economy in supporting waste management in households, 3R TPS, Compost Houses, Waste Banks, and the like, in This will select several related samples.
