Activity Summary

An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter Scale rocked Sumedang Regency, West Java on December 31 2023. Based on information from BMKG, the shaking from the earthquake damaged 1,143 houses spread across 12 sub-districts of Sumedang Regency. The earthquake disaster not only caused physical and physical damage, but also affected the livelihoods and food security of residents affected by the earthquake. To restore this condition, one of the efforts that can be made by academics is to provide training regarding the use of yard land for productive activities such as providing food to meet daily living needs. This activity was carried out in Cipamengpeuk Village, South Sumedang District, Sumedang Regency, where this village is one of the areas affected by the earthquake. Of course, the community really hopes for assistance in any form. Training and coaching so that yard land can be utilized optimally with innovations in utilizing yard land with the principle of meeting the food and nutritional needs of families and communities through optimizing sustainable use of yard land, increasing the community's ability to use yard land for cultivating food crops, horticultural crops and raising livestock and fish . The success of this program is also supported by the active participation of KWT Kartika RW 02 together with residents and government support. With the implementation of this program, it is hoped that it can improve welfare, food security and become an inspiration for other regions facing similar challenges.
