Gegesik Kulon Tourism Village is one of the tourist villages planned by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries (Kemenparekraf) to become a pioneering cultural tourism village in 2021. Some of the cultural tourism that has been developed in this area include the Art of Tatah Sungging Wayang kulit Gagrak, Mask Dance and Rampak Gendang. However, currently the development of pilot tourism villages is experiencing obstacles. One of them is efforts to increase tourism, especially in marketing and promoting tourist villages. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has now provided JADESTA, an application based on the One National Tourism Data website, to display profiles of tourist villages. However, currently the profile of the Gegesik Kulon tourist village on the website cannot be accessed because there is no data and information that can be displayed. Of course, this is a problem considering that the Gegesik Kulon tourist village is still a pioneer and openness of information is important to increase understanding of potential tourists both from within and outside the country.
The aim of community service activities is to provide assistance to the community through data collection and mapping of cultural tourism potential in Gegesik Kulon in realizing the digitalization of tourist villages. The targets of this community service activity include the village government, tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis) and representatives of the Gegesik Kulon village community. The approach used in this activity is a participatory approach with the main method being participatory mapping. Participatory mapping is the creation of maps sourced from information obtained from the community. The implementation stages of this service activity are through socialization activities, compiling modules, implementing training and mentoring activities as well as preparing a Tourism Village Network Website (Jadesta).
