Activity Summary

The phenomenon of climate change and its impact has had a significant effect on the development of the construction of an area, including flooding and inundation in disaster-prone areas and drought in the periphery. One area that is often affected is the Hulu Citarum watershed, especially in the Bandung Regency area. Cirasea sub watershed are one of the areas that have very large water runoff due to changes in land use. Based on the background, the increase in community capacity needs to be done, especially community assistance related to the impact of their socio-economic life. Rural communities found in the Citarum Hulu watershed (in this study focus on Cibeureum villages) included community groups that are vulnerable to disasters caused by the effects of climate change. Assistance for rural communities in an effort to increase agricultural business products which are the dominant sector in the study area through the introduction of the development of economic added value as a new alternative livelihood of the community besides farming, and there is also a need to develop a high productivity agroforestry system that can produce high-value commodities and serurated on environmental sustainability. This capacity building activity emphasizes the debriefing of knowledge in society. One process has been done is in the form of a participatory workshop in order to grow the value of the economy based on the issue, potential, and the capacity of the local community, so that the community can adapt to climate change policies and reduction in the risk of natural disasters. In addition, this activity has provided the form of coaching ITB to the development of the village region in bottom-up, as well as an incubation of innovative village product development and sustainable-oriented village.
