This community service activity was carried out to improve the quality of life (physical and psychological) for victims of the Sumedang earthquake which occurred on Sunday, December 31 2023 at 20:34:24 WIB. Activities were focused on Cipameungpeuk Village, South Sumedang Regency. The main targets of this community service activity are housewives and the elderly who were affected by the earthquake. There are two activities carried out, namely Psychological First Aid (PSA) and horticultural therapy. PSA activities consist of a series of tests on the psychological condition of earthquake victims and a series of psychological therapies, while in horticultural therapy, organic plant cultivation activities are carried out combined with organic waste processing activities. The total number of participants involved was 30 people
The activity lasted for 1 month with assistance from student assistants where in the horticultural therapy activity the 30 participants received training related to hydroponic plant cultivation, raised beds and organic farming. Apart from plant cultivation activities, participants also received training and assistance related to egg-laying chicken cultivation activities and organic waste processing using black soldier fly larvae. At the end of the activity after > After 6 months of carrying out therapy activities, health measurements were carried out between therapy participants and non-therapy participants related to blood sugar content and blood pressure. The results showed that participants had lower blood sugar and blood pressure levels than non-participants. On the other hand, horticultural therapy activities also provide additional benefits in the form of additional income from cultivated vegetables where the village receives assistance from South Sumedang Regency to increase their vegetable production capacity.
