Activity Summary

In managing a conservation area, managers are often faced with social issues concerning the people who live around it. Therefore, the increase in understanding of the problems related to the environment needs to be given attention. The degradation of this area plays a role in the incidence of floods and landslides in various regions around the river flow (Kareumbi Management, 2009). To restore the function of conservation, the management of the KMK region management launched 6 programs, namely the Conservation, Education and Training Program, Ecotourism, Recovery of Buru and Buru Wisata Population, Community Empowerment and Research and Development Program (Kareumbi Management, 2009). However, if seen as a whole community participation in regional conservation is still very few. Activities conducted include Sound Maping activities, describing activities into writing and images, the introduction of biological wealth in forest areas, drawing dream forests, making water filtering models simply and make a model of landslide "as a result of forest damage. The results of evaluating last year's activities also showed several things that need to be improved, including training materials, participating targets, evaluation systems and direct involvement of managers in the preparation of matter. Based on this, the training in 2014 was conducted to implement the results of the evaluation.

Target

Implementation of social care activities in the form of education / counseling / mentoring

Testimonials

The lack of attention to the interests of the community around the forest causes efforts to control conservation forests to be less than optimal, because people are usually less involved in management efforts, which cause them to care less. On the other hand, the indifference can also be closely related to the pattern of community behavior which is influenced by socio-economic and socio-cultural aspects and a lack of understanding of the environment and its implications for conservation areas.
