Activity Summary

Trash is an environmental problem, both organic and inorganic waste, that needs to be resolved. Waste management is both a solution and a problem that must be resolved. As a concrete step in overcoming this problem, the Ngrumati Sang Jagad (RUMASAJAGA) community was formed. In Javanese, Ngrumati Sang Jagad means "Guarding the Earth." This community is the result of collaboration between lecturers and students from the Biology Study Program at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). RUMASAJAGA operates in the environmental sector with the main mission of overcoming the problem of household waste, especially in the Bandung City area. The method used is qualitative-descriptive to analyze the implementation of organic waste processing and its impact on the environment. Participants in this activity consisted of women from PKK RW 01, Palasari Village, Cibiru District, Bandung City as housewives and SDIT, SMP and SMA Daarut Tauhid Boarding School Boys, as representatives of the younger generation. The activity stages include delivering material about the importance of managing organic waste as well as introducing the concepts of ecoenzymes, composting, vermicompost and the use of maggots. Meanwhile, for inorganic waste, this is done by processing inorganic waste into paving blocks.
