Activity Summary

This service is in line with the SDGs of the Village as stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Village Development and Transmigration No. 13/2020, especially SDGs Desa No. 6 which emphasizes the importance of villages that have access to clean water and proper sanitation. Although there is progress, Indonesia still faces challenges in increasing the percentage of residents who have access to clean water. One of the challenges faced is the scarcity of clean water sources in many locations and high levels of water pollution due to human activity. The analysis that will be used in this activity includes descriptive analysis to explain the condition of the spring/reservoir/well, as well as quantitative analysis conducted based on data from the results of the field survey and geoelectric to find out the potential of the water sources in Landu, Rote.

As one of the outer islands surrounded by the ocean, Landu Island has only one source of fresh springs (X) whose existence is threatened by salt water intrusion. The spring is a manifestation of a limestone akifer not depressed with a thickness range of 5-8 meters. Landu Island also has a limited size water catchment area (Y), so that not much surface water can enter the Karst Akifer of the Limestone. Therefore water resources are very limited and a solution is needed to overcome the scarcity of water, especially in the dry season.

Three things are proposed to be a solution for providing clean water in Landu:

1. Measured computing by considering springs,

2. Making a reservoir when water is abundant, and

3. Development of embankments (Z) in rainwater catchment areas (Y), so that surface water is held longer on the surface to be used directly and can be absorbed into the AKIFER.

The first two solutions while cannot be done, because it risk the potential of salt water intrusion and there are differences of opinion between the community and the water master (springs and those who have land). With this consideration, Solution 3 is advanced as a joint solution

Target

Calculation of water use; Fresh spring survey; Embankment construction; Defining Clean Water Procurement Solutions

Testimonials

The benefits will be immediately felt by the community, especially for colleagues in the 3T area. For lecturers and expertise groups, this activity is useful for providing a vehicle to apply geological knowledge that can be useful for the wider community.
