Activity Summary

Mining environmental management is one of the main challenges in the mining industry, especially in mitigating environmental impacts such as Acid Mine Water (AAT) and heavy metal pollution. Research related to the use of microorganisms for mining environmental management has developed rapidly because of its sustainable and environmentally friendly nature. To support this research, laboratory equipment is needed that is capable of preparing materials optimally for the application of microorganisms in mining waste processing.

In an effort to support microorganism-based mining environmental research, a jaw crusher has been procured. and planetary ball mill. Jaw crushers are used for the process of crushing coarse material into a smaller and more uniform size, making subsequent processing easier. Meanwhile, the planetary ball mill allows material to be refined down to the micron level, which is important for increasing the surface area of ​​the material and the effectiveness of interactions with microorganisms.

The use of these two tools is expected to improve the quality of research related to microorganisms in various applications, such as bioremediation AAT, heavy metal bioreduction, and the use of bioleaching for metal recovery from mining waste. Apart from that, the availability of this tool also supports the development of research methods that are more efficient and produce accurate data for applications on a laboratory and field scale. Thus, the procurement of laboratory equipment is a strategic step in encouraging environmentally friendly technological innovation in the mining sector.
