Activity Summary

The ability of mathematical literacy to identify, understand, and use & nbsp; mathematics in various contexts, including in daily life, very important & important in order to be able to analyze situations and solve problems that are & nbsp; According to the PISA Survey (Program for International Student Assessment) on & nbsp; in 2018, the ability of student mathematics in Indonesia is ranked 75 & nbsp; of 81 countries surveyed). & Nbsp;

One of the mathematical activities related to mathematical literacy is & nbsp; the ability to model/formulate the problems encountered in life & nbsp; daily into mathematical equations and then solve them/search & nbsp; the solution effectively and efficiently. This activity is in line with the learning objectives & mathematics in schools, including: & nbsp; "Solving problems that include the ability to understand problems, design & nbsp; mathematical model, solve models or interpret the solutions obtained & nbsp; (math problem solving)" & nbsp; and nbsp; " Mathematics learning material in the form of facts, concepts, principles, operations, & nbsp; and mathematical relations in a field of study, cross fields, cross fields, & nbsp; and with life (mathematical connection) ". >

Some elements that need to be mastered after learning mathematics are & nbsp; reasoning and mathematical proof, solving mathematical problems, communication, & nbsp; mathematical representation, and mathematical connections. Most of these elements are reflected & nbsp; In mathematical modeling activities.

In this service activity, we provide modeling enrichment activities for teachers & high schools. This year, the activity was carried out at As-Syifa High School, which was wrong & one boarding school was quite good in Indonesia.

Target

Practice problem-solving; Introducing mathematical modeling at the high school level to teachers and students; Strengthening material related to mathematical modeling

Testimonials

This service activity involved several KK MIK members so as to provide opportunities for lecturers involved to contribute to introducing mathematical modeling. For faculties, in addition to introducing FMIPA ITB, this activity is also a promotion activity for Mathematics Teaching S2 programs. This service activity can also have a very good impact in improving the quality of teachers in schools. One problem in student education in schools is the low literacy of students in the field of mathematics, including in the use of mathematics to solve daily problems. As a result, many students do not feel the benefits of learning mathematics. This service activity can show students that mathematics is very important in life. School teachers can also get experience and get a new point of view how to teach mathematics to students to be more interesting. Through this service, teachers and students learn problem-solving systematic, effective, and efficient, so as to improve students' abilities in mathematical literacy.
