Activity Summary

Community Service by the Semi-Autonomous Body (BSO) Zephyrus HMME "Atmosphaira" ITB was carried out in Majalaya, Bandung Regency, West Java. This activity collaborates with the Jaga Balai Community and collaborating partners in the Majalaya Residents Alert WhatsApp Group. The service program is focused on developing Automatic Water Level Recorder (AWLR) instruments and disaster risk reduction programs for the community, especially students in the area. This program aims to increase disaster awareness and support the implementation of the Disaster Safe Education Unit (SPAB) in the Majalaya area.

One of the activities in this program is Ngaguar Banjir Majalaya X BSO Zephyrus HMME "Atmosphaira" ITB, which was attended by 52 member of the Meteorology Student Association (HMME) "Atmosphaira" ITB. This activity is preparation for the main program, Zephyrus Goes to School: Flood Disaster Risk Reduction as an Introduction to SPAB, which involves students from six schools in Majalaya. ITB Meteorology Study Program students share knowledge with students regarding flood disaster risk mitigation in the form of interactive activities, raise awareness about the importance of adaptation to disasters, and increase community participation in creating a safe environment.

In the field of technology, BSO Zephyrus succeeded in developing the Automatic Water Level Recorder (AWLR) and Rain Gauge instruments in two strategic locations, namely PDAM-Onlimo Intake Cibangoak and Sasak Cibesar. This tool produces real-time data regarding water level and rainfall intensity which is uploaded to the official website bsozephyrus.com. It is hoped that this data will be a useful source of information for local communities in anticipating the risk of flood disasters. This program reflects the synergy between technology development and strengthening community capacity in efforts to reduce disaster risk in flood-prone areas.

Target

Activities to install instrumentation equipment in the form of an automatic water level recorder based on ultra sonic sensors and installation of rain gauges. Educational activities for the public and meteorology students regarding disaster risk reduction
