Activity Summary

The Jatiwangi region located in Majalengka Regency, is known as a producer of quality house tiles in West Java. The area is loaded with the life of the hersy, especially in the field of low burning ceramics. Traditional textiles in the form of batik are familiar to Jatiwangi residents. Although the relatives in the area have been running, but there are still some limitations, one of which is in the case of a collection of copper caps that are still relatively small and the lack of ornamental varies are characterized by the local area. In the area there are many teak plants, in addition to as a source of fuel, teak trees are also natural resources that can be used as natural dyes for textiles. There needs to be a breakthrough in terms of development of batik to improve the quality and competitiveness of the market. Alternatively, among others, by utilizing local potential, such as skills in the manufacture of low-burned red land ceramics that can be sought as a stamp for a process, by presenting the special decorative variety of the region. Coupled with the use of natural teak leaf dyes whose existence is very abundant in the area. The existence of community empowerment from the government in the form of batik training, accompanied by several potential natural resources and local wisdom which can be developed into facilities and infrastructure for making batik is a very large potential. When directed well planned, Batik Jatiwangi can exist and compete with other batik-producing areas, for this reason, further research is needed about the added value that needs to be developed into the traditional Jatiwangi textile. In the end through this program it is expected to help improve the welfare of the community in the community, and can be used as a model for developing natural creative products.
