Activity Summary

Jepara Regency is one of the districts in Central Java Province, widely known by the community as a furniture and engraving center. The furniture industry and carvings make a major contribution to economic growth and development in Jepara Regency. But lately the industrial activities have decreased caused by several things including the increase in the price of wood raw materials and the losers of competition with large capital entrepreneurs. Until now many small industry entrepreneurs suffered losses and decided to close their business. As one of the efforts in solving the problem, the team from LPPM ITB in collaboration with the regional government of Jepara and Unisnu made an oyster mushroom aquaculture program aimed at providing other people's interference to the community in Jepara Regency. Oyster mushrooms are food ingredients that have high protein content, contain anticholesterol substances, and various mineral vitamins benefit the body. Not only in terms of health, oyster mushroom cultivation also has a promising business prospect because the demand always increases every year and the cultivation process is relatively easy. In addition, environmental conditions and easily search for raw materials in the production process make Jepara Regency as a potential place in the development of oyster mushroom cultivation. The program to be implemented in Jepara Regency includes training activities and coaching of oyster mushrooms with the focus of participants is wooden craftsmen. The training activity will be carried out through the presentation of material, discussion, and direct practice that will be guided by the team from LPPM ITB. In addition, coaching will be carried out in the process of developing oyster mushroom products and business management. The final goal of the program is the formation of an oyster mushroom cultivation business so that it can help the economy in Jepara Regency.
