Chemistry is a science that underlies many other sciences, including engineering. In the curriculum structure of SMK (Perdirjen Dikdasmen No. 07/D.D5/KK/2018 dated 7 June 2018), Chemistry is one of the basic subjects of expertise that must be mastered by vocational students. Therefore, understanding the basic concepts of chemistry becomes important in developing student creativity in innovating. Practicum is one of the important learning methods for improving students 'cognitive aspects, besides being able to help improve students' understanding of a topic learned. Practicum can also increase student interest and motivation, clarify understanding, and provide more comprehensive experiences. Thus, the delivery of subject matter through practicum, especially science, is important. Based on the independent curriculum, studying SMK/MAK levels there is an emphasis on "Subjects of Natural and Social Sciences Projects containing the content of natural and social science literacy formulated in the themes of life that are contextual and actual". Based on this, the topic of essential oils that are one of the products produced from the agricultural plant of fragrant roots and scent can be an alternative in increasing science literacy through the practicum project of vocational students. Based on the concept of Tri Dharma Higher Education, academic staff in tertiary institutions have an important role to help align the basic concepts studied at the secondary school level with college levels, so there is a continuity and good synergy. Therefore, the community service program is one way to be able to realize this. The purpose of this community service program is to increase the understanding of students of SMK Plus Rasana Rasyidah Garut for chemical subjects, especially organic chemistry through the topic of 'Chemistry Essential Oil'. The target of activities in the form of the preparation of an integrated module which includes learning modules in class and practicum modules related to 'Chemistry Oil Essential' has been achieved.
The purpose of this community's devotion program is to increase the understanding of SMK Plus Students Rasana Rasyidah Garut on Chemical subjects, especially organic chemistry through the topic of 'Oil Chemistry'.
The benefit of the project is to increase the competence of academic staff in the Organic Chemistry KK in developing research -based learning methods that can be utilized to improve the quality of medium -level student education in Indonesia.
