Activity Summary

"The Cisokan River is one of the rivers that empties into Citarum, in line with the Citarum Harum Program, the tributaries that empties into Citarum should not burden the main river in particular in terms of environmental pollution. For this reason, the conservation program on the banks of the Cisokan River continues to be carried out with efforts in the form of planting bamboo along the river bantarajn to avoid landslides due to the position of the river that is in damp. These bamboo are certainly not only to withstand landslides, but can also be used by the community to be used as objects that have economic value. One of the entities that has been around for a long time in the village of Bantargebang is a bench craftsman from bamboo consisting of 20 groups of craftsmen who are in the houses. Skills owned by craftsmen and the existence of programs for greening so that landslides on the banks of cisokan are more awake, the community agreed to create an area called Kampoeng Bamboe Istambul (Istuning Add Ulin). This area has become a community visit area to relax or take pictures with existing facilities. Furniture craftsmen (benches) from bamboo in the village of Bantargebang have their own uniqueness, they make, assemble and sell independently by being borne to be sold to areas such as Cianjur, Sukabumi, even to Bandung and Jakarta. The design of the bench or the shape made is more or less the same between one craftsman and another craftsman. From the craftsmen themselves, there is a design renewal that can enrich alternative forms that can be made and sold from Kampung Bambu Intambul to other regions. One of the emphasis in this service program is trying to give a bench design that can be dismantled, so that these craftsmen when selling can carry products more than usual, or by providing medium-sized designs (stools, chairs, flower pots , etc)."
