Activity Summary

In order to introduce the nanoscience and the application of science and technology to the public, the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Research Center (PPNN) ITB through the community service program proposes the theme of quantum-based computing introduction to the community. This activity will be carried out considering that Pandemic Covid19 which has not ended causes students or teaching staff to carry out teaching and learning activities at home online. This condition causes an inhibition of experimental-based research activities in which implementation is in desperate need of facilities and infrastructure available in the laboratory. Given that education is seen as one aspect that has a principal role in advancing the nation, this Covid19 pandemic should not relax the spirit of the nation to continue to develop knowledge and technology. For this reason, computational-based research needs to be studied by academic SIVITY as an alternative experimental-based research. The introduction of quantum-based computing for this community will be carried out by utilizing various SOURCE S software to design material simulations to be tested. The software is commonly used to help research in chemistry or physics. For this reason, the target of service activities is lecturers, teachers, students and researchers who have an understanding of the quantum physics / chemical level. Activities have been carried out for 3 (three) days from Tanggan 26 to 28 July 2021 by focusing on the basic understanding, practices and applications of various material computing methods. Lecture and hands-on to participants will be given during the activity, starting from the introduction of Basic Linux, Introduction to Density Functional Theory (DFT), and the use of DFT-based computing in the application of nano technology. This activity is expected to inspire the younger generation to pursue the fields of nanosains and nanotechnology, especially in the field of material design computing so that it can develop this field in the future to further advance the Indonesian nation.

Testimonials

The holding of the introduction of quantum-based computing for the community is expected to introduce the fields of nanosains and nanotechnology, especially material computing material design from early to students. This event is expected to open insight into quantum-based computing methods and advanced technology, especially nanotechnology, which actually has the potential to be applied in everyday life. The holding of this event is also expected to help socialize the ITB PPNN as an educational institution and research that pursues the fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology in the general public; In particular students who are the younger generation, so they know that the ITB PPNN is the place for them if you want to be more serious about learning or pursuing the fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology in the future.
