Activity Summary

One of the areas crossed by the Citarum River is Baleendah Village, Baleendah District, Bandung Regency. Baleendah Village is directly adjacent to the Citarum River. This condition caused Baleendah Village very often experiencing a flood disaster. The location of this village is also in the water running area. According to data from Citarum (BBWS) Citarum (2011), Baleendah Village, including 1,000 hectares of areas that have never been flood free. The flood history in Baleendah Village began in the early 1990s. Since 2005 until now, the flood disaster in this village almost occurs every year when the rainy season comes. People who live around the Citarum watershed have low preparedness. Based on research conducted by the author of 2012 regarding the knowledge of society related to the knowledge of the source of the flood disaster showing some people (75%) did not know the actions of preparedness that must be done in the face of flood disasters. The study findings in research related to community preparedness are mostly society (81.4%) knowing their territory is threatened by a flood disaster that often occurs.
