Several problems that arise in the development of arts and culture in West Papua, especially in the field of Fine Arts in Sorong City, are still lacking. There are very few teachers providing Fine Arts, although there are inadequate competencies because it is not their field, apart from that there is a lack of fine arts studios and even There are none, most of them are dance art studios, such as the Muara Pecek Art Studio, Baingkete Village, Makbon District, which is trusted in Sorong Regency. This will have an impact on the continuity of local traditional arts and culture related to fine arts, which will become extinct and there will be no successor generation, besides that the development of local traditional arts and culture will not go well. Skills, abilities and understanding in the field of arts and culture, especially fine arts, need to be promoted through art and culture development teachers who have competence as talent builders, as well as art studios. Starting from information data from Puspresnas in every FLS2N (National Arts Competition Festival) activity held every year by BPTI (National Talent Development Center) in the context of national talent selection. West Papua Province sends the least number of talented students, especially fine arts. Apart from that, information from school principals who received BOS Achievement Performance funds from West Papua at the 2023 BOS School Achievement Performance Bimtek event in Yogyakarta, that the main obstacle was the absence of talent coaches who had cultural arts (fine arts) competencies. Based on the information Accordingly, what is needed in developing arts and culture in schools is a competent Fine Arts talent trainer. The first step to fill the void of competent talent coaches is to hold training for teachers appointed to coach the field of arts and culture at the target school and its affiliated schools. West Papua has quite potential tourist assets and strong traditional arts, so there needs to be a teacher guide who has competence in the field of arts and culture (Fine Arts). Remembering that in this area there is the Sorong Muhammadiyah University of Education (UNIMUDA), which is a private university with the largest and largest number of study programs in the Eastern region. One of them is the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program which produces elementary school teacher graduates based on ethics and moral values, science and technology, as well as strong character and an entrepreneurial spirit. Arts and Culture education has not been explored at all, so it is natural that early development of arts and culture in schools is still very lacking because there are almost no teachers who are competent in the field of fine arts. In general, talent trainers for arts and culture, especially fine arts, do not yet have competence. which is appropriate, this is what schools in eastern Indonesia always complain about when developing Arts and Culture. If there is special guidance in the form of workshops/training for arts and culture teachers, it will be able to support regional competitive advantage towards achievement in the field of Arts and Culture (Fine Arts). On this occasion, we, the FSRD and SBM Team, created a training program for teachers who appointed by the school to be a talent coach in the school, given insight, methods and basic materials for arts and culture (fine arts) as the provisions needed to develop students in the school and their management towards national talent, includes: 1) Insights, Methods and Materials on the basics of Fine Arts; 2) Extracurricular Management; and 3) Management of School Art Studios. Each of these points is given in the form of a workshop/training to talent coaches appointed to take part in the training. This training focuses on creativity and learning methods, with fine arts material including 2-dimensional fine arts and 3-dimensional fine arts which can be implemented directly with students in a practical, fun way, learning while playing and in harmony with local content (mulok).< /p>
Trying to develop the competence of art and culture teachers as talent guides in the field of fine arts which has not been developed so far.
This ITB Community Service activity is in accordance with its objectives, very useful for teachers to increase their competence in the field of arts and culture, through fine arts workshops to prepare talent coaches in schools. Apart from that, it involves SBM-ITB to see and provide insight into the potential of the creative industry and the Muhammadiyah University of Education (UNIMUDA) Sorong which also has a Primary School Teacher Education Study Program which produces elementary school teacher graduates based on ethics and moral values, science and technology. , as well as having a strong character and entrepreneurial spirit. The Fine Arts workshop activities from PPM-ITB are certainly very beneficial for students of this study program, considering that Arts and Culture education has not been explored at all, so it is natural that early arts and culture development in schools is still very lacking because there are almost no teachers who are competent in the field of fine arts. There is. The benefit for ITB is that it can participate in the government program to accelerate the achievement of targeted MTN (National Talent Management) in areas of Eastern Indonesia whose development is often neglected, namely Arts and Culture, especially in the field of Fine Arts. As a university which has a fine arts faculty, it is a challenge in itself as a material test for the development of fine arts knowledge that is really needed by society.
