The lack of availability of water ready to drink is the main problem faced by residents in several regions in Tasikmalaya due to the dry season. Some sources experience drought, while the water sources that are still not feasible to drink because they are polluted by contaminants. To meet the need for clean water for drinking and other needs, residents in the village rely on water supply assistance from the Government of Cipateven villagers. Ultrafiltration (UF) technology is a solution to overcome the problem of availability of clean water. UF membranes can set aside iron (Fe3 +), colloid, germs, and all particulates causing turbidity in surface water sources while maintaining important minerals in it. The ultrafiltration unit is equipped with an integrated module equipped with activated carbon at the initial stage to eliminate odors, organic substances, and free chlorine. ZnO nanoparticles function as anti-bacterial and disinfection stages. With the integrated ultrafiltration unit, clean water and decent drinking water can be produced at once. Surface water from the container tub is flowed to the UF unit as a disinfectant to remove bacteria and viruses, then further flow to the active carbon unit to adsore impurititis which is not filtered by the UF membrane. UF units are entitzed with ZnO particles as an antibacterial and bioceramic agent to restore freshness and important minerals in water.
Application of appropriate technology
To meet the needs of clean water, the community in Cipatuh Seventh, Tasikmalaya only relies on help and PDAM tank cars. With the installed UF unit in the village, surface water (such as rivers and wells) can be processed into water worth drinking and cooking. The community no longer depends on the PDAM tank car if there is a delay in shipping.
