Activity Summary

"One of the regions that also includes the Citarum watershed section is the Cianjur Regency. Based on the results of monitoring the field conditions carried out, information was obtained that some people in Cianjur Regency still do not have access to clean water with quantity, quality, and continuity in accordance with Permenkes No. 492 of 2010 concerning Drinking Water Quality Requirements. For example in 2020, the prolonged dry season caused residents in six villages in Cianjur Regency, West Java to experience a crisis of raw water availability, so residents were forced to use water in the Cisalak River body with quality that did not meet the quality standard to meet the needs of bathing, washing, washing, and latrines (MCK). This condition shows the importance of management of water resources to overcome water inequality during drought in the Cianjur Regency area by increasing alternative clean water such as the development of rainwater harvesting (PAH) or commonly also known as Rainwater Harvesting (RWH). In order to answer this problem, ITB through the Citarum Harum community service program in 2022, contributed to building PAH, especially in Kp Kampung Takarotot, Cinangsi Village, Cikalongkulon District, Cianjur Regency. PAH construction which was carried out in Tarikolot Village, Cinangsi Village, Cikalongkulon District, Cianjur Regency has been completed around the end of October 2022. Cinangsi Village itself has an area of 1.5 km2 with an altitude of less than 500 meters above sea level. The population in Cinangsi Village is 6,810 people with a population density of 454 people/km2. Based on BPS data (2022), as many as 53.76% of people in Cianjur Regency rely on wells or protected springs as the main water source, 14.04% use water sources from unprotected wells or springs, 5.32% use water sources from Plump water, 22.25% uses water sources originating from bore wells or pumps, 0.19% use bottled water, and 4.44% uses other water sources. Therefore, PAH development is also expected to reduce the burden of water use from these sources while increasing the health status of the community in Cinangsi Village. PAH development is also a form of conservation efforts where rainwater is not immediately discarded but used in advance to reduce runoff. Besides that, it is also a means of providing clean water for local residents. PAH buildings measuring 3x3x2 meters can accommodate 18 cubic rainwater. To meet clean water, there is a filtering system consisting of zeolites, activated carbon, sand, and silica in the rainwater reservoir, so that the rainwater that is accommodated is suitable for use and utilized by residents such as for the needs of clean water and also for ablution santri In the pesantren near the rainwater reservoir."
